Aaron Lamb and Katherine Strohmaier will present Jason Robert Brown's beloved off-Broadway musical The Last 5 Years, this September 21 through October 2 in the Taproot Theatre's Isaac Studio Black Box. Linda Whitney, Artistic Director for Olympia, WA-based Harlequin Productions, will direct.

Tickets are available online at l5yseattle.com and brownpapertickets.com, by phone at 800.838.3006 or in person 9am - 5pm every day at the Brown Paper Tickets Box Office, 202 Nickerson St. Seattle, WA. Industry Mondays: There will be two performances for the benefit of the industry on Monday, September 25 and October 2.

Two artists and one piano reimagine The Last 5 Years - with breathtaking simplicity. As time passes (backwards for Cathy, forwards for Jamie), each accompanies the other, switching off seamlessly until they both play at once, during the musical's sole duet. Far from a purely technical trick, this brilliant conceit lends the story a layer of tenderness and maturity, imbuing the production with a new emotional depth. Its complexity will astound you; its grace will melt you. Do not miss it!

Linda Whitney, Artistic Director for Harlequin Productions, will direct. Whitney directed the original production of this piece, which also starred Lamb and Strohmaier, in September 2016. Of her over 75 total set design and/or direction credits, recent projects include: Present Laughter, Little Shop of Horrors, To Kill a Mockingbird, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Philadelphia Story, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and the entire 20 show Stardust series. She has written 19 original shows plus several adaptations, has received critical recognition for design and direction, and is a recipient of the Artist Trust President's Award for Arts Leadership.

The cast includes Aaron Lamb (Village Theatre's The 39 Steps, Taproot Theatre's Dracula) and Katherine Strohmaier (5th Avenue's The Pajama Game, Guys and Dolls).

As the concept demands, both actors are also accomplished pianists and vocalists. Both studied Piano Performance in college, Strohmaier at the University of Idaho and Lamb at Washington State University. Strohmaier is a musical director and vocal instructor for Cornish College of the Arts, has sung with The Seattle Symphony, and periodically appears in concert with acclaimed Gershwin pianist Peter Nero. She has also sung the National Anthem for the Seattle Seahawks. Lamb has worked regionally as a music director and pianist, and has served as Resident Music Director and Ragtime Pianist for almost all the remaining Melodrama/Vaudeville theaters in the U.S.

Performances will run September 21 - October 2, 2017, playing Mondays, 7:30pm; Thurs/Fri/Sat, 8:00pm; Sat matinee, 2:00pm at Taproot Theatre Company's Isaac Studio Theatre Black Box, 212 N 85th St, Seattle, WA 98103.
