Rehearsals are in full swing for Whidbey Island Center for the Arts' forthcoming Theatre Series, a screen-to-stage production of The Full Monty directed by Elizabeth Herbert. Musical direction is by Sheila Weidendorf, choreography by Chelsea Randall. The Full Monty opens April 5 and runs through April 20, 2013; show times are 7:30 P.M. on Fridays and Saturdays with 2 P.M. Sunday matinees.

In 1997, the British film about six out-of-work steelworkers who had nothing to lose, took the world by storm, taking $256 million worldwide and becoming one of the most successful British films ever made. Now the boys are back, live on stage-only this time, for them, it really has to be The Full Monty. The musical, with book by Terrence McNally and music/lyrics by David Yazbek, is adapted from the 1997 film and moves our guys to Buffalo, New York. The original Broadway production of The Full Monty was nominated for 10 Tony Awards in 2001, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Original Score.

Leading the company of Elizabeth Herbert's production are Ken Stephens, Ryan Saenz, Bob Atkinson, Tristan A.B. Steel, Fernando Duran, and Cameron Gray. Visit wicaonline.com for the full company list. The Full Monty opens on April 5 and runs through April 20. Get your tickets early and get ready to have some fun!

Purchase tickets at wicaonline.com, by phone at (360) 221-8268, (800) 638-7631, or by visiting the box office at 565 Camano Ave, Langley, WA 98260. Ticket prices range from $18 to $24. The Full Monty is recommended for mature audiences due to strong language and nudity.

The production runs April 5 - 20, 2013, playing Friday - Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 2:00pm.
