SilverSounds Northwest Presents AMERICA'S JUKEBOX

By:

On April 9, 2017 at 3pm SilverSounds Northwest (SSN) presents its Spring Concert America's Jukebox. Northwest Associated Arts' senior singers put their best foot forward with SSN's annual celebration of the music from the 1950s through the 90s. From What a Wonderful World to Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, with stops along the way for songs by Simon & Garfunkel, Elvis Presley, Eric Clapton and many others, this show will once again prove that "You're never to old to rock-n-roll!" Add in a live rock band, along with narration that traces the evolution of technology from 8-tracks to digital downloads, and you have a show that delights.

With KidSounds, YouthSounds & TeenSounds Northwest the South Sound's youngest singers present a varied and fun show titled Spring is in the Air. On Saturday Mar 13 at 2pm, Directors Kerstin Shaffer and Colleen Thomas-Reitsma conduct an entertaining program that welcomes the sunshine with a song and a smile.

The NWAA Spring lineup concludes with a moving tribute to mom. On Mother's Day, Sunday May 14, at 2pm CSN delivers a choral bouquet about, in honor of, and remembering moms. The concert includes favorites from the traditional choral repertoire, popular genres, and Broadway including stunning arrangements of Sting's Fields of Gold, Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal by L'Estrange, a selection from Lauridsen's Song of Roses, and Bobby McFerrin's Psalm 23.

As always, CSN and the Youth Choruses encourage families to attend with their affordable Youth Ticket Program. Parents and adults looking for a risk-free way to introduce their children to the joys of choral music can bring young guests for free. Youth under age 17 can attend for free when accompanied by a paid adult.

ChoralSounds Northwest is comprised of adults from 18-80+. SilverSounds Northwest is comprised of 40 retired men and women. KidSounds Northwest, YouthSounds Northwest, and TeenSounds Northwest are also part of the NWAA family. Together, all these Burien-based choruses are part of Northwest Associated Arts (NWAA), which has developed a loyal and growing following with family-friendly shows that offer much more than the usual "choral concert."
