Seattle Men's Chorus UNPLUGGED 6/13-21 At Meany Hall

By:

Nothing can match the power of 200 male voices, singing in mighty harmony. For 30 years Seattle Men’s Chorus has been building, deepening, and polishing their sound waiting for the chance to sing a completely a cappella concert. At long last, this summer, the men are ready to strip down and go naked—no piano, no instruments, nothing but pure vocal pleasure. Joining Seattle Men’s Chorus in their return engagement at Meany Theater is the stunning a cappella sextet m-pact. Hear Sondheim and Schubert blend beautifully with Mendelssohn and Montoya. The repertoire for SMC Unplugged will cover lots of musical ground: from African anthems to barbershop, and beyond.

m-pact’s pop-jazz vocals and unique sound make a perfect pairing of two extraordinary vocal groups appealing to anyone who loves music.

Tickets for Meany Hall performances are on sale now at www.flyinghouse.org or (206) 388-1400 (Monday-Friday, Noon-7:00pm). Prices range from $20-$55. Tickets for Mount Vernon can be purchased at (360) 416-7727 or online at ticketing.mcintyrehall.org.

Hailed "one of the best pop-jazz vocal groups in the world" by the San Francisco Chronicle, m-pact is respected worldwide as a cutting edge trailblazer in the realm of vocal music. Emerging from an age of auto-tune and overproduction, this LA-based sextet has cultivated a new generation of ears hungry for the fresh, raw power of nature's first instrument—the human voice. Their complete bio can be found here http://www.m-pact.com/bios.cfm.

Founded in 1979, the internationally renowned Seattle Men’s Chorus, along with Seattle Women’s Chorus (founded in 2002), are the largest community choruses in America; and the largest gay choruses in the world.

Flying House Productions, home of Seattle Men’s Chorus and Seattle Women’s Chorus, ranks third among the state's music organizations with over 300 members of SMC and over 200 members of SWC.
