Seattle Theatre Group (STG) presents SHOWTUNES THEATRE COMPANY's GEORGE M! at The Moore Theatre on Saturday, June 4th at 8pm and Sunday, June 5th at 2pm.

GEORGE M! tells the life story of George M. Cohan, a giant of American musical theater, and most notably celebrated for the songs Yankee Doodle Dandy, Over There, You're A Grand Old Flag, and Give My Regards to Broadway. GEORGE M! follows Cohan over a 60-year period from childhood in Rhode Island, on the vaudeville circuit with his parents and sister as "The Four Cohans," and then to New York, where he reigned on the Broadway stage for 25 years.

Cohan transformed Broadway from a variety show performance into a book-driven musical format where song and dance advance plot. Known as "The Man Who Owned Broadway," he was America's first show business superstar, recognized coast to coast as a successful actor, singer, dancer, playwright, composer, liberettist, director and producer.

Portraying the energetic George is local rising star Jared Michael Brown, with Seattle favorites John Patrick Lowrie and Judy Ann Moulton playing parents Jerry and Nellie Cohan. A talented and versatile ensemble take on the many characters appearing in Cohan's story, and includes, Allan Barlow, Lauren Carlos, Megan Chenovick, Jeannette D'Armand, Angelica Duncan, Iris Elton, Daniel Goodman, Karen Harp-Reed, Jon Lutyens, Emily Rudolph, Bryan Tramontana and Clare Watanabe. This toe-tapping production will feature young dancers from Northwest Tap Connection, a local award-winning urban dance studio specializing in rhythm tap.

Director David Hunter Koch is excited to stage this concert version for SHOWTUNES, declaring "One thinks of Cohan music as old-fashioned and out of date, but when it's performed by some of the finest young musical and dance talent in Seattle, the songs spring to life as never before."

SHOWTUNES' GEORGE M! is directed by David Hunter Koch, with musical direction by Mark Rabe. Music and Lyrics by George M. Cohan, Book by Michael Stewart and John and Francine Pascal, Lyrics and Musical Revisions by Mary Cohan. The production team also includes Production Stage Manager Jen Matthews, Artistic Director Martin Charnin and Executive Producer Maggie Stenson Pehrson.
