Village Theatre Pied Piper is excited to present this imaginative production of The Phantom Tollbooth at the Everett Civic Auditorium. Based on Norton Juster's modern fairy tale, this inventive musical follows the story of Milo, a young boy who discovers that no amount of toys can suppress his boredom. The Demons of Ignorance are certain he will be their next victim, telling him "If you get the urge to do anything-don't. It may be dangerous." Join Milo on his incredible journey as he sets off to save the princesses of Rhyme and Reason and reunite the brother Kings who rule over the cities of Dictionopolis and Digitopolis.

This exciting production comes to Village Theatre from Kennedy Center Theatre for Young Audiences on Tour, which has been thrilling young audiences with their touring shows for the past 16 years, visiting hundreds of cities in 49 states. This production boasts a "richly textured score" (Washington Post) by Arnold Black and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize and three-time Tony-Award winner Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof, She Loves Me). The Phantom Tollbooth is an endearing show that audiences of all ages will find appealing.

The public performance of The Phantom Tollbooth will take place Sunday March 8, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Everett Civic Auditorium. One hour prior to curtain, young people are invited to participate in pre-show arts, crafts, and fun in partnership with Imagine Children's Museum.

In addition to the public performance, school matinee performances of The Phantom Tollbooth will also take place at Everett Civic Auditorium (March 9, 2009 at 10:00AM and Noon) and Theatre at Meydenbauer Center (March 10, 2009, 10:00 AM and Noon). School performances may be arranged by calling Village Theatre's Youth Education office at (425) 257-6343.

Families who are interested in getting a taste for this show before March 8, 2009, can attend the "Page to Stage Storytimes," led by Erica Weir, Pied Piper manager. These engaging and interactive 15-minute readings expand upon the themes and books associated with this particular Pied Piper performance, and for this show will take place at Imagine Children's Museum on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 between 11:15 AM-1:00 PM.
