Photo Coverage: THE DEATH OF BRIAN: A Zombie Tale by Ricky Coates to Play Seattle Fringe
Ricky Coates is bringing his one-man zombie adventure to his hometown of Seattle. The play premiered in the Orlando Fringe Festival where the Orlando Sentinel found it "compelling." "Coates contort[s] fearlessly through fight scenes and revelations."The show had such critical acclaim that it was declared: WINNER of the Orlando Fringe Festival 2013 High-Tech Award.
After an accident, Brian S. awakens with a taste for flesh and a high tolerance for pain. His normal life in shambles, he struggles for survival in a quest to reunite with his wife. In this award-winning one-man show, fights, sex, gore, a puppet, and a well-crafted soundscape create thirteen unseen characters, a county of environments, and more than a few really good cringes and laughs.
Ricky has been acting in Seattle for over eight years, and lately, he has been very interested in generating new traveling work. A member of Pony World Theatre, Ricky helped create Suffering Inc. and The Final Tribunal into the Mysterious Death of Mister Senor Salvador Dali. He also has devised with theater simple for seven years and Blood Ensemble in the show Blood/Sailing. Locally, Ricky has performed with Washington Ensemble Theatre (Hunter/Gatherers), Book-It Repertory Theatre (Persuasion), Sound Theatre Company (Troilus and Cressida, Tempest), Wooden O (As You Like It), LiveGirls! (Mud Angel, Quickies), ArtsWest (Beat the Sunset, La Bete), Harlequin (Psychopathia Sexualis), Greenstage (Henry V), and many more.
