MURDER BALLAD Gets Steamy West Coast Premiere

By:

Sidecountry Theatre (SCT) is excited to present the West Coast premiere of Murder Ballad. Murder Ballad is Sidecountry Theatre's (SCT) second production, following 2014's acclaimed and popular Passing Strange which was presented as part of ACT's Central Heating Lab program (now ACTLab).

Directed by Seattle's beloved performer Billie Wildrick, Murder Ballad, is the sexy, dramatic rock musical about a love triangle gone wrong, centering on Sara, an uptown woman who seems to have it all, but whose downtown past lingers enticingly and dangerously in front of her. A downtown and off-Broadway sensation, Murder Ballad, was the must see theatre experience of 2013. SCT's production will be presented in a thrilling, immersive, bar-like setting, where you will be in the middle of all the fun.

The title is taken from the phrase "murder ballad," a type of song that describes the details of a crime, from the murderer, to the motive, to the act itself. Conceived by Jonathan Larson Award winner and two-time Susan Smith Blackburn Prize finalist Julia Jordan, with book and lyrics by Jordan and music and lyrics by indie rock singer/songwriter Juliana Nash, Murder Ballad is a steamy and fun thriller with a razor's edge.

SCT has assembled a remarkable ensemble cast of actors for this premiere. Naomi Morgan (Sara), has performed in lead and featured roles at 5th Avenue Theatre, ACT, Village, Benaroya Hall, Seahawks Stadium, and California Music Circus among others. Sarah Henley-Hicks (Narrator), will be seen in StageRight's, The Toxic Avenger. Past credits include Judas in SMT's Jesus Christ Superstar, Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, and Lily in the The Secret Garden. JorDan Taylor (Tom), has been seen most recently in ACT"s Bad Apples, ArtsWest's American Idiot, Paris in Seattle Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Nick Watson (Michael) was recently seen as Karl the Giant in Taproot's Big Fish, Billy Dean/Virgil in ArtsWest's Violet, plus the Sound of Music at 5th Avenue Theatre, and American Idiot at ArtsWest among others.

Tickets start at: Adults: $36; Students: $20; VIP: $50: Pay-what-you-can performances (minimum $5) October 19, 20, 31
