GreenStage to Close 25th Anniversary Season with THE BACCHAE, 10/12-11/2

By:

GreenStage will complete its 25th anniversary season with another installment in its popular Hard Bard series. This fall Hard Bard will "go Greek" with The Bacchae by Euripides, directed by Teresa Thuman, performed Thursdays through Sundays, Oct. 12-Nov. 2, at the Stage One Theatre at North Seattle Community College. As always, GreenStage performances will be absolutely free of charge.

One of the greatest Greek tragedies, The Bacchae follows the god Dionysus as he travels to Thebes to restore the honor of his dead mother, Semele, and challenge the authority of Pentheus, the young King of Thebes. They don't believe Dionysus is really a god, and ban all worship of him--just because his mother was a mortal with whom Zeus had an affair. Drunken revelry, cannibalism, revenge, sex, and rock 'n' roll ensue! Beware; we believe that when the script calls for blood, more is better!

The cast:
Sarah Kelly Beeson: Autonoe/Shepherdess/Bacchae
Shannon Campbell: Bacchae
Jennifer Crooks: Ino/Bacchae
Taylor Davis: Virgin Sacrifice/Bacchae
Matthew Fulbright: Pentheus
Matthew Gilbert: Tireseas/Bacchae
