GreenStage 30th Season Kicks Off Today

GreenStage 30th anniversary season kicks off July 1318th annual Seattle Outdoor Theater Festival July 14-15 at Volunteer Park GreenStage will kick off its thirtieth season of free Shakespeare in the Park Friday, July 13 with the first of more than 60 performances scheduled in more than 20 area parks running through August 18.

Three women will direct our four plays, all of which are "bad boy" plays; we're excited to see how they speak to audiences in the era of #metoo. All performances are free, contributions are enthusiastically accepted.

The plays are:

Henry IV, part 1 by William Shakespeare, directed by Ameilia Meckler Bowers.

The Three Musketeers, by Alexandre Dumas, adapted by Gordon Carpenter, directed by Erin Day

The Two Gentlemen of Verona and The Winter's Tale, by William Shakespeare, directed by Jennifer Crooks.

These Backyard Bard plays are abbreviated versions using just four actors and designed to fit into smaller neighborhood parks.

In its eighteen years the Seattle Outdoor Theater Festival has become the unofficial kickoff event of the city's robust outdoor theater season. This year's festival will bring 17 free performances by nine different local theater companies to three stages in Volunteer Park July 14-15. Schedule and other details on our SOTF page.
