French Language Play HOULE'YWOOD BOULEVARD Announced In Kirkland

For their fourth production, Les Seagulls, an Eastside French language comedy troupe, will present Houle'ywood Boulevard by French playwright Caroline Filespa, directed by Cedric "Caribou" Barnet, a veteran actor of the troupe.

The play opens on Friday March 13, and has two subsequent performances on Saturday, March 21st and Friday, March 27, in Kirkland. Previously, Les Seagulls produced, Le Prénom, Une heure de tranquilité, La Cage aux folles, and presented Humour, a one man show by Grégory Galin.

The zany cast of characters of Houle'ywood Boulevard includes Dino Bastacosi, a billionaire Hollywood producer, with Mafia connections, who flees from the police with his girlfriend, Betty Boobs, to his yacht, along with an incompatible bunch of Hollywood characters, who should not be in the same room together for even five minutes let along a long cruise.

On board are two rival movie actresses, one highly-strung and paranoid, and the other completely self-absorbed. In addition, there is Sigmund Garfunkeln, a famous shrink, a French opera singer, who is well past her sell-by date, and a journalist, looking for the big scoop. When the yacht's motors are flooded by a storm combined with the captain's loss of memory, a "Huis Clos" situation ensures hilarity amidst an astronomical amount of conflict. (N.B. the word "houle" in French means a heavy swell)

The author, Caroline Filespa, is a French author whose previous works: Passé Composé (the Compound Past Tense), Échappée Belle (Breakaway Belle) La Conspiration de Cellamon (The Conspiracy of Cellamon) have all been performed in Bordeaux, Southwest France, by the comedy troupe, Les Z'artpions. The cast consists of veteran Les Seagulls actors: Jonathan Garcia, Katya Samoylenko, Jérôme Vasseur and Sébastien Plisson as well as newcomers Ghislaine Robert, Charles Boespflug, Mélissa Kordahi, Myriam Baillargeon, and Nicolas Moreau.

"This play is hilarious, like `The Love Boat' meets Tintin!"" said director Caribou.Barnet
