Book-It Repertory Theatre (Book-It) kicks off their 30th season with Jonathan Safran Foer's Everything is Illuminated. Adapted and directed by Josh Aaseng, Everything is Illuminated plays September 11 - October 6, 2019 (Opening/Press Night on Saturday, September 14) at The Center Theatre.

Jonathan treks to Ukraine to uncover the truth of a family legend-what happened to the woman who saved his grandfather from the Nazis? With the help of Alex, his less-than-fluent translator, and Alex's grandfather, Jonathan's journey leads him back in time and deep into his own imagination. The trio squabbles and struggles to understand each other and where they're headed, but their quixotic search brings a vision of the past to vibrant, terrible, charming life before our eyes.

"Our ensemble will use an arsenal of overhead projectors to create a vibrant life of moving images and shadow play, underscored live by two musicians. We intend to bring the story's playfulness, creativity and nearly-fantastic verve to exciting life on stage," says Aaseng.

The cast includes Shanna Allman as Brod, Susanna Burney as Lista, Sean Lally as Jonathan, Peter Sakowicz as Alex and Michael Winters as Grandfather.

The design team includes scenic design by Catherine Cornell, costume design by Chelsea Cook, lighting design by Andrew D. Smith, sound design by Dominic CodyKramers and properties design by Cedric Wright. Shannon Loys joins the team as visual art director, Zane Exactly is the puppetry consultant and Michael Owcharuk is the composer and music director.

Performance tickets range from $26 to $50 with group rates available. $20 tickets will be available to students during the entire run with valid school ID. Purchase at book-it.org or by calling the box office at 206.216.0833. The box office is open Tues through Fri, 12pm - 5pm, located in the outer lobby of The Center Theatre at the Armory, 305 Harrison St., Seattle.
