ArtsWest Extends ANGRY HOUSEWIVES
By: Tyler Peterson May. 13, 2015
ArtsWest has announced an extension of Angry Housewives, the longest-running musical in Seattle theater history. Premiering in 1983, Angry Housewives went on to play for nearly seven years in Pioneer Square Theatre spaces, burning its songs and cut-loose attitude into Seattle's history. With an Off-Broadway stint in 1986, the production has had a healthy run in regional theatre, including most major cities in America.
Created by Seattleites Chad Henry and A.M. Collins, the production has had a rockin' run at ArtsWest under the direction of Gregory-Award winning director Shawn Belyea, with music direction by Nathan Young, and choreography by Troy Wageman, who'll also be joining the cast for the extension.Bored with their everyday mediocre existence and tired of the men in their lives, our four heroines get angry and form a punk-rock band to win some much needed cash in a local contest. Beginning with the first licks, this satirical twist on 1980's feminism turns into a feverishly-rompy punk-rock musical. Creative Team
