ANDELANA Comes to The Dukesbay Theater in October

Andelana by Roger Iverson, directed by Randy Clark, comes to The Dukesbay Theater next month. Performances run October 27 - November 19, 2023.

On a fateful night in 1899, a ship mysteriously sunk in the Tacoma harbor.  Could the rumors of a curse on the ship be true?

Tacoma maritime history meets spine-tingling ghost story!  The Andelana, a 4-masted barque, sank in the Tacoma harbor and remains at the bottom of Commencement Bay to this day. There were no survivors except for one apprentice seaman who had sought medical treatment in town for an abscessed tooth.

But rumors swirled amidst this tragedy, talks of ghosts and a curse. Why did the ship, which had sailed around the world, suddenly sink while anchored during a storm?  No witnesses saw the vessel sink, but it was said that some on board feared the ship’s travels to other continents brought a curse on the Andelana.

Tacoma playwright Roger Iverson explores this mystery and brings it to life on the Dukesbay stage.

Review: THE DINA MARTINA CHRISTMAS SHOW at ACT

Dear Readers, I am loathed to admit that I’ve never seen one of Dina Martina’s Christmas shows. Hey, I’ve only had 25 years to catch one. I have seen her perform before, way back when at Thumpers on Capitol Hill (back when that existed). Well, she’s back at ACT this year with “The Dina Martina Christmas Show” and I had to ask myself, “Why did I wait so long?”

Review: MJ at The Paramount Theatre

Dear Readers, you know I’m not a fan of the bio musical. Very few get it right with jamming too many songs in or a bad book. Unfortunately, “MJ” the Michael Jackson bio musical currently playing at the Paramount suffers from both of those things, and more.
