3 Water-Activated Murals Installed Depicting Seattle Homeless

Seattle's Union Gospel Mission unveils Lost and Found, a series of three 8' x 8' water-activated murals based on acclaimed photographer Lee Jeffries' stunning portraits of the homeless. The limited-engagement art installations bring attention to the city's homeless in the moment of their greatest need.

Jeffries' portraits of the homeless, previously featured in places like TIME magazine and CNN, have been reimagined by local Seattle muralist Ariel Parrow. Parrow makes use of a unique, water-activated paint that renders them visible only in the rain.

The murals at Seattle Center's Fisher Pavilion and Seattle's Union Gospel Mission's Men's Shelter are on view to the public for free through mid-January,2019. Parrow is currently installing The Westlake Center mural (located by the entrance to Zara); it will be unveiled to the public Saturday evening December 15th.

"Lost and Found reminds the residents that, while most people seek immediate shelter when the rain begins to fall, there are at least 6,000 Seattleites, with no choice but to brave the elements," said Terry Pallas, Chief Program Officer at Seattle's Union Gospel Mission.

· Seattle Center Fisher Pavilion: mounted on a special 1,000 pound platform designed to withstand the elements. Located across from the Seattle Children's Theatre.

· Westlake Center Plaza: in front of the Zara store entrance. Painted on the plaza.

· Seattle's Union Gospel Mission Men's Shelter: Hanging off the south side of the building at 318 2nd Ave Ext S, Seattle, WA
