Moth StorySlam winner and New Yorker humorist Kristina Libby brings her award-winning solo show I Almost Died for This?! to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, tracing her real-life journey from searching for the soulmate promised by every rom-com she ever watched, through a traumatic brain injury, a near-death experience, and a pandemic art movement that swept the globe. The show takes aim at the fairy-tale myths pop culture feeds women, asking what it truly costs to be a good girl — and in Libby's case, the answer was nearly everything. Directed by Padraic Lillis, founding artistic director of The Farm Theater and NYU faculty, the production is accompanied between August 18–28 by violinist Daniel S. Lee, praised by The New York Times for his "ravishing vehemence" and "soulful performance." Fans of Fleabag and Hannah Gadsby's brand of autobiographical storytelling will find much to recognize in this funny, frank, and at times furious hour.
