Homunculus is a madcap comedy in verse about Art, Truth, Love, and other monsters. Love-scorned sculptress and self-styled sorceress Mimi sculpts an idol of her ex during a thunderstorm and brews a foul lovehate potion, with monstrous romantic, artistic, and supernatural consequences for her lovestruck assistant Bootbutt. Written by 28-year-old playwright, actor, and filmmaker Santiago Mallan, the play explores modern relationships and the false selves people create online and through art, rendered as a bawdy, fantastical classical comedy. After two sold-out New York stage runs and an award-winning independent feature film, the international company brings the sold-out European stage première, originally produced by ECC in Brussels, to the Edinburgh Fringe.
