Theatre Royal Announces Principal Casting for DISNEY'S HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL
Stage Experience is a two-week summer school organised and held by Theatre Royal's creative learning team which gives talented students aged 10-18 the understanding of producing a full-scale stage show with the guidance and expertise of industry professionals.
At the end of the extensive programme, participants take their work to the Theatre Royal stage for three performances on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 July.
Alastair McLeod will play Troy Bolton; Anna Cowen stars as Gabriella Montez; Laura Denton takes on the role of Sharpay Evans; Marcus Hyka, steps into the shoes of Ryan Evans; Annie O'Dell is Kelsi Nelson and Venus Peldey will be Ms Darbus.
Alastair, 17, hails from Balloch and attends drama classes at Scottish Youth Theatre and plays piano and trumpet. Stage credits include Bugsy Malone, The Wizard of Oz and Summer Holiday. Alastair is hoping to study musical theatre upon leaving school.
17-year-old Anna of Newton Mearns is a member of RCS's Junior Conservatoire for Musical Theatre and Harlequin Youth Theatre Group. Anna has also appeared in the short film, Imagine It. She also has a keen interest in debating and public speaking. Stage credits include Legally Blonde, The Wizard of Oz and Gangsta Granny.
Paisley's Laura, 15, and has performed in many venues across Glasgow including The Royal Concert Hall, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Oran Mor. She is currently a part time student at Dance School of Scotland and plays the ukulele and piano. Stage credits include The Addams Family Musical, Grease and pantomime productions of Beauty and the Beast and Jack in the Beanstalk.
15-year-old Marcus of Glasgow's Hogganfield attends Vicace Theatre School and plays guitar, keyboard, piano and glockenspiel. Marcus has performed on many Glasgow stages including Theatre Royal, the King's, Websters Theatre, and Cottier Theatre. Stage credits include The Wizard of Oz, Grease, Peter Pan, Go Dance and Glasgow Philharmonic Orchestra.
Jordanhill's Annie, 13, plays piano and ukulele and loves to perform at school. Stage credits include Bugsy Malone and The Wizard of Oz.
Venus, 15, of Lesmahagow, South Lanarkshire, has an interest in many aspects of theatre including opera, musicals and plays. Her credits include The Wizard of Oz.
