SNAIL TRAIL Will Come to Edinburgh Fringe

Bi-Curious George will present Snail Trail, an exploration and celebration of nature's links to Queerness and Transness through the lens of snails. Performances will run at Pleasance Below, Courtyard, 5 – 31 Aug.

Drawing on personal experiences of hormone therapy and transitioning, drag king Bi-Curious George dips in and out of a snail costume to delve into trans-masculinity and how Queerness and Transness are as natural as anything in the wild. Along the way, the show weaves in fascinating snail facts - including the revelation that, as hermaphrodites, both partners can carry eggs if they inject each other with a ‘love dart' full of hormones - and draws tender parallels between snails and the lived experiences of queer and trans communities. Snail Trail ultimately asks why, if we greet the animal kingdom with wonder and curiosity, do we struggle to extend that same generosity to our fellow humans?

Bi-Curious George said, “Snail Trail continues the exploration of queerness and trans-ness in nature which I began in Queer Planet, but this show is much more personal. It's an exploration of a journey which I'm very much currently still on - figuring it all out and shifting and changing in front of, and with the audience. At a time when the trans community is so often othered and even demonised, I wanted to show the soft, gentle, joyous side of our lives and remind everyone that we are just people, with all the doubts and mess and confusion that comes with that. All while in a snail costume, naturally.”

Bi-Curious George  is an actor, musician and producer who trained as an actor at Institute of the arts Barcelona and at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.Their solo show, Queer Planet which played at 2024's Edinburgh Fringe to critical acclaim has been performed at venues all over the UK including The Southbank Centre, Soho Theatre and Kew Gardens. George is also a producer in the London cabaret scene, specialising in fundraisers and politically engaged community events and produces the regular, paid, queer open mic night, 'Free Range' which has been running for over two years and recently transferred to its new home at Soho Theatre Walthamstow.
