MYTHOS: RAGNARÖK to Return to Edinburgh Fringe
Ed Gamester's cult hit will feature a new Viking rock soundtrack by Nordic composer Kjell Braaten.
Following four sold-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and international performances, MYTHOS: RAGNARÖK will return to the festival for its largest run to date.
Created in 2021, the production combines live professional wrestling, theatrical storytelling, comedy, and Norse mythology. The show follows legendary figures including Thor and Loki as they attempt to prevent Ragnarök, the prophesied end of the world, through a series of battles and unexpected twists.
Written, produced, directed, and performed by the company behind the production, MYTHOS: RAGNARÖK has developed a following among theatre audiences, wrestling fans, and mythology enthusiasts. Over the course of hundreds of performances, the show has evolved into one of the festival's highest-selling attractions.
This year's production will feature a new original score by Nordic composer Kjell Braaten. The Viking-inspired soundtrack accompanies the show's blend of physical theatre, live combat, and storytelling.
Creator and lead performer Ed Gamester said, "Over five years of crippling effort, our little show has grown from an audience of one to being one of the biggest-selling acts of the festival. For that, we have the audiences of the Fringe to thank - and it is our honour to come back this year with the best version of our show to date, in what is probably the best venue in the city. There's a lot of hype about our show this year and rightfully so: we couldn't be more ready to exceed all expectations."
Combining elements of mythology, Shakespearean-style drama, comedy, and wrestling performance, MYTHOS: RAGNARÖK continues its exploration of wrestling as a theatrical art form while presenting the story of the Norse apocalypse through live action and physical storytelling.
