GLOB to Make Scottish Premiere at Edinburgh Festival Fringe With Les Foutoukours

Internationally renowned clowning company Les Foutoukours return to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with the Scottish premiere of international multi-award-winning sensation Glob. In a dreamlike world, two characters tumble, glide and soar through a wordless world of surprises. Comical, magical and full of heart, Glob is a deeply human show for all ages that explores the concept of waiting, the unknown and the beauty of the unexpected.

When two curious souls meet in a strange and enchanting universe, they wait. They wonder and collide in a gentle journey through the unknown full of chance encounters, playful mishaps and moments of quiet magic. With hand-to-hand acrobatics, handstands, bounce juggling, tap dance, freestanding ladder, a brand-new variation of diabolo called Globolo and live piano woven into the action, Les Foutoukours create a theatrical playground where circus skill meets clowning.

Inspired by a surreal 'midnight-sun' moment in northern Norway, when night never falls and the world is suspended in a consistent glow, Glob brings this peaceful, trancelike feeling to the stage. Blending clowning, circus and physical theatre, the show draws from the spirit of silent film legends like Chaplin and Keaton to use movement, rhythm and physical comedy to depict a moment of stillness.

Co-director and performer of Glob, Jean-Félix Bélanger, comments, Glob comes from a feeling of calm - a need for a pause to explore how movements can be slow and still be captivating! Since its creation, its mission has been reinforced every year while the world continues to spin so fast with our lives in a constant run. Above that, our curious and gentle characters bring a relevant illustration of solidarity and discovery of the other. Supported on stage with a refined aesthetics in the set and costumes, different than usual contemporary circus, we take side that arts are here to bring beauty and wonder to audiences.

With over 25 years of delighting over 500,000 audience members worldwide with award-winning productions, Les Foutoukours now offer a serene and inquisitive show that celebrates the slow moments. Previously winner of the Director's Choice and Avignon Awards, Glob also celebrates its 275th show in Edinburgh. Performances will run August 5-30.
