#DANISH Returns to Edinburgh Festival Fringe for Fifth Live Year With Four New Works

Celebrating five years of live performance in Edinburgh, and seven years including its digital editions,  #DANISH will return to Edinburgh Fringe in 2026 with a striking programme of four boundary-pushing works that cut to the heart of identity, connection and what it means to be human today.

#DANISH once again brings some of Denmark's most exciting artists to the international stage. This year's showcase spans queer physical theatre, contemporary opera, political performance lecture and high-energy dance theatre — each work distinct in form, but united in urgency, honesty and global relevance.

From explosive explorations of masculinity and identity to intimate portraits of loneliness and powerful interrogations of history and ideology, #DANISH 2026 offers audiences a dynamic and uncompromising theatrical experience across some of the Fringe's most iconic venues.

#DANISH 2026 Showcase:

Returning to the Fringe with their latest work, HIMHERANDIT present GOOD ENOUGH? at Summerhall -a riotous, queer physical theatre piece celebrating imperfection, self-expression and the courage to take up space. Following the international success of Mass Effect, the company delivers a raw, playful and deeply human exploration of growing up, finding your tribe and reclaiming your story.

Also at Summerhall, OPE-N bring LAUGHING OUT LONELY (LOL)- a powerful, genre-defying opera that transforms real social media posts into an immersive live experience. Performed by acclaimed countertenor Morten Grove Frandsen, the work explores modern isolation in a hyperconnected world, pushing the boundaries of opera through a visceral, emotionally charged solo performance.

In Summerhall's Anatomy Lecture Theatre, NoLands present OUR OTHER ORGAN, a provocative and unflinching performance lecture by Boaz Barkan. Blending physical theatre, anatomy and political inquiry, the work interrogates how trauma, racism and ideology are embodied, challenging audiences to confront the blurred lines between victim and perpetrator.

Meanwhile, at ZOO Venues, DON GNU return with their international hit M.I.S. – ALL NIGHT LONG. A sold-out sensation on its original Fringe run, this high-energy, laugh-out-loud show revisits modern masculinity through outrageous physical theatre, humour and vulnerability a decade on, and more relevant than ever.

Together, these four works reflect the core of #DANISH: fearless storytelling, physical precision and a commitment to engaging with the world as it is now. Whether through laughter, confrontation or shared experience, each piece invites audiences into a space of reflection, connection and dialogue.

Danish Cultural Attaché Lone Britt Christensen from the Embassy of Denmark in the UK said, “#DANISH is a unique collaboration that not only creates visibility for Danish performing arts but also strengthens Denmark's cultural diplomacy. It is a platform that makes a real difference for Danish artists in the international market.”

Arts entrepreneur and founding producer of #DANISH, Karen Toftegaard, said, "The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is a whirlwind - a high-pressure storm that sweeps you up and, if you embrace it, can catapult you out with transformative opportunities. #DANISH is more than a showcase; it's a community that harnesses the energy of that storm, turning chaos into momentum and emerging as bold, creative entrepreneurs."
