(12/07/2015) - Rubicon Theatre celebrates the holidays with the company's first presentation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, a World Premiere adaptation written by Producing Artistic Director Karyl Lynn Burns and directed by Brian McDonald. Rubicon's A Christmas Carol features a 24-member cast (the largest ensemble since the company's production of Fiddler on the Roof and the largest ever for a play).
(10/26/2015) - The director and designers behind Rubicon Theatre Company's acclaimed environmental productions ofFiddler on the Roof and Man of La Mancha have reunited on the two-piano chamber version of the legendary Lerner and Loewe's classic My Fair Lady. Based on George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion, the musical tells the story of Professor Henry Higgins, an arrogant and attractive phonetician who makes a wager that he can transform a 'deliciously low' Cockney flower-seller (Eliza Doolittle) into an elegant lady by teaching her to speak more beautifully. The magnificent score includes 'I Could Have Danced All Night,' 'On the Street Where You Live,' 'Wouldn't It Be Loverly,' and 'I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face.' For Rubicon's production, Director James O'Neil returns to the source material to explore the Shavian themes of class struggle, social reform and women's rights.

(07/02/2013) - The Summer Solstice Celebration officially welcomed summer in Santa Barbara the weekend of June 21 - 23, and the highlight of the city's celebrations was the Summer Solstice Parade along State Street on Saturday, June 22. Supporters of the Santa Barbara Center for the Performing Arts (SBCPA) Annual Fund were welcomed to 'Parades at The Granada Theatre,' where approximately 100 guests enjoyed special front-row seating for the 'Creature'-themed parade. (04/27/2012) - For the first time in the company's history, Ventura's RUBICON THEATRE is transferring a production to the legendary LOBERO THEATRE in Santa Barbara. On the heels of a critically acclaimed, sold-out run at Rubicon's home in Ventura's Downtown Cultural District, the world premiere musical HELLO! MY BABY will play at the Lobero Theatre for three performances only next weekend - May 5 and 6. Described as a 'Tin-Pantastic New Tuner for all ages,' the show is conceived and written by Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner and Tony Nominee Cheri Steinkellner, who is also a longtime Santa Barbara resident. (08/29/2011) - On Saturday August 27, 2011, BroadwayWorld.com's CEO/Editor-in-Chief Robert Diamond, in the midst of Hurricane Irene married actress Jennifer Hallie Rosen after a 17 month engagement. The two were introduced by a friend of Rosen's, who wasn't able to make the wedding, as a result of the weather and warnings throughout all the boroughs. The BroadwayWorld.com News Desk stayed feverish all weekend while the couple said 'I Do', as news was coming fast about theatre cancellations, schedule changes and travel advisories in addition to all things that were happening in other parts of the country and the world, not affected by the Northeast's local weather.
