VIGNETTES ON LOVE A Comedic Drama Opens This Summer
PlayGround and Noise Pop present the July 8-30 premiere (Previews July 6 & 7) of Vignettes On Love, a new multi-media play based on original writings by David Steele, with the play co-written by Steele, Victoria Chong Der and Davern Wright. Vignettes On Love is a comi-drama that strips raw the sexualy and ideology of six San Franciscans by exploring their intersecting lives as they struggle with love, betrayal, and self-destructive tendencies in this fast-paced dark comedic drama. Sometimes love stings.
Directed by Jim Kleinmann, Vignettes On Love features a cast that includes trixxie carr, Ayelet Firstenberg, Heather Gordon*, Colin Johnson, Rebecca Pingree, and Kunal Prasad. (*AEA) A soundtrack of the best contemporary up-and-coming bands and 80s rock is curated by Noise Pop with original filmscapes by Barry Stone and Dances With Lights (PlayGround Film Festival). The joining of PlayGround with Noise Pop (Treasure Island Music Festival, 20th Street Block Party, Swedish American Hall) and entrepreneur David Steele (Ne Timeas Group, One Wealth Advisors) brings a dynamism unique in SF Theater.

The story is framed by a series of nine short music videos, filmed by Dances with Light and a team of local filmmakers and featuring contemporary and classic rock tracks curated by music festival promoter Noise Pop ("Treasure Island Music Festival"), including works by Nick Cave & The Bad Seed, Book of Love, David Bowie, Sylvan Esso, Devendra Banhart, among others, set to exterior and interior scenes of San Francisco. This world premiere of Vignettes On Love follows development and readings with PlayGround and opens in the newly-renovated Potrero Stage: PlayGround Center for New Plays (formerly Thick House) for PlayGround's record fifth world premiere of the season.
