Tony Award-winner And TV Star Annaleigh Ashford Comes to BAC

Presented in the historic Venetian Room of San Francisco's Fairmont Hotel San Francisco, CA (March, 2018) Bay Area Cabaret's 2017-2018 Season Finale brings a return engagement by Tony Award-winning Broadway and television star Annaleigh Ashford on Sunday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. in San Francisco's historic Venetian Room. Singing an eclectic mix of Sondheim, Alanis Morissette, Kurt Weil and Donna Summer, Ms. Ashford will perform an updated version of her original cabaret piece Lost in the Stars, showcasing her clever sense of humor and emotional depth, and demonstrating the infinite possibilities of the cabaret genre. Annaleigh Ashford replaces the Bay Area Cabaret return engagement of London's Puppini Sisters, originally scheduled on April 29.*

Ms. Ashford made her cabaret debut in 2008 as part of the Broadway at Birdland series at the renowned jazz club. She performed an early version of what became her critically acclaimed Lost in the Stars cabaret show and subsequent album of the same name, released in 2016. Her West Coast cabaret debut was in the Venetian Room for Bay Area Cabaret in 2015.

On Broadway, Ms. Ashford starred opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George, and starred in the title role of Sylvia, A. R. Gurney's play, opposite Matthew Broderick. Ms. Ashford swept the 2015 awards season on Broadway winning the Tony, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama Desk Awards for Best Featured Actress in a Play, for her role alongside James Earl Jones in the revival of You Can't Take It With You. In 2013, she originated the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots, receiving her first Tony nomination. She made her Broadway debut in 2006, originating the role of Margot in Legally Blonde: The Musical. After a year, she starred as Glinda in the Broadway production of Wicked, then on Broadway in Hair and Grease.

Ms. Ashford was recently cast in the lead role in the new ABC television pilot Three Rivers, and she currently appears in the FX anthology series American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. Her other TV credits include Fox's reboot of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and the critically acclaimed Showtime series Masters of Sex.

She co-stars in Jennifer Lopez's upcoming film, Second Act, and in Woody Allen's not-yet-released comedy, A Rainy Day in New York. Other film credits include Sex In the City: The Movie and Rachel Getting Married.

Tickets to Annaleigh Ashford are $65, with no food or drink minimum required. Information and tickets are available at www.bayareacabaret.org or by phone at City Box Office (415) 392-4400. For BAC 2017-2018 season information and video clips of performers visit www.bayareacabaret.org.
