TheatreWorks Silicon Valley announces the launch of the first ever Party of the Decade - an extraordinary evening of food, wine, dance, and an incredible benefit auction. For its inaugural event, TheatreWorks will revisit the decade of its founding: the 1970s. A golden era for art, music, and culture, in the 1970s the world watched John Travolta strut his stuff to "Stayin' Alive," the Steve Miller band inspired San Franciscans to "Fly Like an Eagle," and in Palo Alto, a young Robert Kelley created a play for youth - the first step in creating the nationally acclaimed company known as TheatreWorks Silicon Valley. Party of the Decade will take place on Saturday, November 12 at the Palo Alto Hills Golf and Country Club, 3000 Alexis Drive, Palo Alto. For tickets ($350 for individuals and $1,000 to $10,000 for tables and sponsorship) visit http://www.theatreworks.org/give/partydecade/ or call (650) 463-7112.

The TheatreWorks Party of the Decade committee has put together an exciting lineup for the night to ensure a memorable evening that will raise funds to help the company continue bringing world-class theatre to the Bay Area. Party of the Decade will include opening and closing performances by TheatreWorks artists, featuring Broadway music from the 1970s. In addition to dancing through the decade with musical accompaniment by the E-Ticket band, there will also be a live auction of fabulous trips and an opportunity to win a $10,000 dining and shopping spree courtesy of Stephen Silver, one of America's leading time piece and jewelry houses. Tickets include cocktails, and a lavish dinner with wine from J. Lohr Vineyards and Wines, followed by a Dessert Dash, for an array of stunning desserts by top local confectionaries.

Sponsorships for Party of the Decade are being accepted. The benefits include priority table location, a verbal recognition from the podium, guaranteed first position in the Dessert Dash, a hardbound photo memory book of the event, a "Juke Box Moment" that allows guests to pick a tune from the band playlist and start the dancing for the song chosen, and a chauffeur-driven classic 1971 Rolls Royce with round trip transportation. Proceeds from the one-night-only experience will benefit TheatreWorks' continued mission to bring the arts to Bay Area audiences.

TheatreWorks Party of the Decade committee consists of eleven amazing individuals who have spent countless hours together to bring to life this groovy party. These individuals are Anne Hambly of Los Altos, Barbara Shapiro of Menlo Park, Carolyn Schutz of Redwood City, Eileen Giammona of Redwood City; Gayla Lorthridge Wood of Los Altos Hills, Jane Weston of Emerald Hills; Jayne Booker of Palo Alto, Julie Kaufman of Atherton, Lynn Szekely-Goode of Los Altos Hills, and Nancy Ginsburg Stern of Palo Alto.

The E-Ticket Band is a popular seven piece rock and roll dance band that has been entertaining people throughout the San Francisco Bay Area since 1985. They cover a spectrum of rock and roll from Sam & Dave to Tom Petty, and everywhere in between, adding their own grooves that get people up and dancing.

With some 100,000 patrons per year, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley has captured a national reputation for artistic innovation and integrity, often presenting Bay Area theatregoers with their first look at acclaimed musicals, comedies, and dramas, directed by award-winning local and guest directors, and performed by professional actors cast locally and from across the country. A home for artists developing new works, it was at TheatreWorks that Memphis, the 2010 Tony Award-winning musical that played on Broadway for three years before embarking on a 19-month national tour, was first workshopped and received its world premiere. It also enjoyed an extended run on London's West End, where it captured two Olivier Awards.
