Producer Jo Schuman Silver, The Steve Silver Foundation and Beach Blanket Babylon - the world's longest running musical revue - are proud to announce the 2014 Steve Silver Foundation and Beach Blanket Babylon "Scholarship for the Arts" program. Created in 2002 as part of its commitment to the arts, the "Scholarship for the Arts" program has grown into an annual event eagerly anticipated by San Francisco Bay Area high schools and the community. This year's scholarship coincides with Beach Blanket Babylon's 40th Anniversary celebration.

"Steve Silver was dedicated to encouraging young artists to follow their dreams and express their creativity," said Schuman Silver. "We honor his legacy and commitment to youth in the arts with this outstanding program."

Last year's program proved, once again, to be extremely successful, with Beach Blanket Babylon receiving a record number of submissions. Riley O'Flynn (Dance) from Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts, Madeline Rouverol (Acting) from Santa Rosa High School and Kristina Dizon (Voice) from Rocklin High School each walked away with $10,000 towards their college education.

High school seniors throughout the San Francisco Bay Area are asked to submit a completed entry form along with a three-minute performance in one of three categories: singing, acting or dancing. Nine finalists - three from each category - will be selected by a panel of performing arts professionals and notified on Monday, May 5, 2014 and will perform their three-minute piece live at Club Fugazi (home of Beach Blanket Babylon) on Monday, June 2, 2014 in front of a panel of celebrity judges and an invited audience made up of their family and friends. One winner from each category will be presented with a $10,000 check from The Steve Silver Foundation and Beach Blanket Babylon toward their higher education. The "Scholarship for the Arts" is based entirely on talent; grades and financial needs are not factors. All entries must be postmarked or uploaded by 11:59 p.m. PST on Friday, April 18, 2014.

Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon has a long-standing commitment to philanthropic efforts in the community and has been involved with numerous charities including the UCSF Cancer Center, Legal Community Against Violence, Make-a-Wish Foundation, the Child Abuse Prevention Society and AIDS Memorial Grove.
