Special Event Added Carla Bruni to Make Bay Area Debut

Presented in the historic Venetian Room of San Francisco's Fairmont Hotel San Francisco, CA (October 2017) Bay Area Cabaret announced today a new show added as a special event to its 2017-2018 season. On Friday, February 23, 2018 at 8:00 pm, Bay Area Cabaret will present the Bay Area concert debut of internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter Carla Bruni. Marking only her second US concert tour in her twenty-year musical career, the French pop star, and former supermodel and First Lady of France, will be performing songs from her brand new album, French Touch. Carla Bruni's first album of covers and all in English, French Touch runs the gamut from standards such as "Moon River" and "Crazy" (with Willie Nelson) to rock classics like the Rolling Stones' "Miss You," Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence," and Lou Reed's "A Perfect Day." Produced by David Foster, the album retains Carla Bruni's signature style of stripped-down arrangements, smoky vocals, and what Ms. Bruni aptly describes as "intimacy." And it's that intimate connection with her material that Carla Bruni shares with Bay Area Cabaret's style and the artists they present at the intimate and historic Venetian Room. Having presented cabaret seasons in a variety of elegant showrooms, Bay Area Cabaret found a permanent home in 2010 when it was invited to reopen the Fairmont San Francisco's historic Venetian Room, which had been dark as an entertainment venue for over 21 years. Following a gala opening (featuring Oscar, Grammy, Tony, and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Marvin Hamlisch), the company has gone on to present such musical legends as Barbara Cook, Chita Rivera, Judy Collins, Stephen Schwartz, Elaine Paige, Tommy Tune, Leslie Uggams, and the Bay Area Teen Idol competition (first year winner, Bobby Conte is currently starring on Broadway in Robert DeNiro and Chaz Palminteri's A Bronx Tale: The Musical).
