Sonoma State University Presents Fall Dance Concert, 11/29-12/2

Sonoma State University's Dept. of Theatre Arts and Dance presents its annual Fall Dance Concert. The program explores a wide variety of styles and genres including hip-hop, jazz, lyrical, contemporary and ballet and features new works by student choreographers. Directed by Christine Cali.

This production is part of "Water Works," is Sonoma State University campus wide project including fine arts and academics drawing on the theme of inland water flow as resource, theme and metaphor. The "Water Works" project features a variety of events and performances presented across the SSU campus in indoor theaters, classrooms, art galleries and outdoor site-specific events at bodies of water.

LOCATION: Evert B. Person Theatre

Evert B. Person Theatre is accessed through the main entrance to Sonoma State University.
Tickets also sold at the door one hour prior to curtain. When attending a performance in the Evert B. Person Theatre, snacks, wine and soft drinks are available for purchase in the lobby beginning one hour prior to curtain.

PARKING: After entering the main entrance of Sonoma State University, turn right. Use LOT E to the left. Walk from the main parking lot using the ramp to the theater which is to the left of the parking lot. Parking permits are required for all cars during posted hours Monday through Friday. Permits may be purchased daily from the vending machines located at the entrance to the general parking lots. Daily parking fee is $2.50. Visitor parking is only permitted in lots marked as ‘Non-Reserved.’

COST / TICKET PRICE: Free to $17
Sonoma State University students admitted free to all performances. $10 Visiting students and seniors; $15 SSU Faculty, Staff and Alumni; $17 General. Tickets also sold at the door one hour prior to curtain. When attending a performance in the Evert B. Christine Cali describes herself as an artist, teacher, performer, practitioner and collaborator. She directs Cali & Co. dance, based in San Francisco and has taught and performed nationally and internationally. Locally, Christine has taught at ODC Dance Commons, LINES Ballet, The SF Conservatory of Dance among others. She has performed with the Joe Goode Dance Group and was a featured artist at ODC Theater.

She has taught master classes around the S.F. Bay Area including The Branson School in Marin County. She was invited to perform in The Seoul International Improvisation Dance Festival (07'/08') and choreographed for the annual SaengSaeng Festival (07') and performed site-specific improvised works with fellow dance artist, Jun gi Kim. Cali received the Choreography Award of Excellence at Vision Series in 1999. In January, 2011 Cali was named in the Theatre Bay Area article "Women on the Way: 10 Years of Ushering Women Into the Spotlight."

TBA reporter Amber Adrian wrote: "...up-and-coming choreographer Christine Cali is dedicated to combing new territory. Molding the wayward and impetuous cross-movement of her 10 dancers into a well-edited performance, Cali funnels their explosive force into potent dance theatre."
