PlayGround's 25th Season Includes Solo Performance, Readings, and Festival Of New Works
PlayGround continues its 25th season as the Bay Area's leading playwright incubator with more than 75 performances of new short and full-length plays, from developmental staged readings to full productions, through August 2019. The 25th season began at Berkeley Rep with the debut of The 24 Hour Plays-Bay Area in Sep 2018. The majority of the work takes place at Potrero Stage, PlayGround's state-of-the-art center for new plays, reopened in 2017 following a major renovation and renaming. Visit http://playground-sf.org.
PlayGround's 2019 25th Season features the Solo Performance Festival - 2nd annual, Jan 24-Feb 10, 2019; Monday Night Readings - Feb. & Mar 2019; Festival of New Works - May 9-June 16, 2019; and launch of an Innovator Incubator Showcase - August 1-25, 2019 (the inaugural). Helping to support this 25th Season is PlayGround's playwright centered board which includes Geetha Reddy*, Katie May*, Keith Goldstein, William Bivins* with Ruben Grijalva* (Treasurer), Emilie Talbot (Secretary), Regina Guggenheim (Chair) and Jim Kleinmann (President). Serving as home not only to PlayGround's expanded programs, Potrero Stage hosts other leading new play developers and producers including resident companies Crowded Fire and Golden Thread Productions, Playwrights Foundation, as well as up-and-coming companies like Ferocious Lotus, Bread & Butter Theatre Company, Quantum Dragon Theatre, and more. Altogether, Potrero Stage hosts nearly 200 performances a year for a combined audience of nearly 8,000.

PlayGround presents the 2nd annual PlayGround Solo Performance Festival, featuring 11 Bay Area solo performers in 12 double-bill performances over three weeks plus a special Open Mic Night (1/28) for emergency and established solo artists to try out their new material.

PlayGround presents its 25th season of Monday Night PlayGround, the celebrated ten-minute play staged reading series, featuring six original ten-minute plays by Bay Area early-career playwrights, staged and performed by leading local directors and actors.

PlayGround closes out its 25th season with the annual PlayGround Festival of New Works, a six-week showcase of the best short and full-length plays, from developmental staged readings to full production. The 2019 festival features Best of PlayGround 23, the best short works from the Monday Night series, and world premieres of two new full-length plays developed at past festivals.
