PETER PAN to Conclude Its San Francisco Engagement 9/5

By: Jul. 14, 2010

The spectacular new stage production of PETER PAN, J M Barrie's classic story performed in the threesixty° Theatre, a state-of-the-Art Theatre pavilion in Sue Bierman Park across from the Ferry Building, will conclude its San Francisco engagement Sunday, September 5. PETER PAN is closing as originally scheduled to accommodate the Department of Recreation and Park's capital renovation program planned to take place on the site later this year.

Next stop for this production of PETER PAN as it begins a national tour will be The Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa for a 10 week run beginning Sept. 28, 2010. Conceived by an award winning creative team and featuring 22 actors, stunning puppets, epic music, dazzling flying sequences and remarkable CGI effects projected on the tent walls at three times the size of Imax screens, this production of PETER PAN made its U.S. premiere on April 27 in San Francisco directly following its successful debut in London in July 2009.

"We knew that San Francisco was the ideal place for us to set up the world's first 360-degree CGI theatre and to launch the U.S. premiere of PETER PAN, but the Bay Area response to our show has exceeded our expectations", declared Robert Butters, one of the producers. "Each week more than 7,500 people attend the show, while even more come to Sue Bierman park just to enjoy the fantastic setting and free ‘100 Years of Peter Pan' exhibit. We are hard at work developing a new threesixty production to follow PETER PAN and couldn't think of a better place to debut it than back here in Sue Bierman Park in the fall of next year."

By the time the show closes, over 130,000 people will have seen the show in the world's first 360-degree CGI theatre tent on the Embarcadero across from the Ferry Building in San Francisco. PETER PAN is a unique collaboration between theatrical producers, threesixty°entertainment, and the City of San Francisco Department of Recreation and Parks. Sue Bierman Park proved to be an ideal location for threesixty°entertainment to raise their 100 feet high tent and create a magical Neverland environment. The perennial popularity of this beloved story was an instant hit with Bay Area audiences, transforming Sue Bierman Park into a new entertainment destination for families.

PETER PAN at The threesixty° Theatre has become an iconic destination on San Francisco's historic waterfront. A magical park-like setting invites patrons to enhance their entertainment experience. With refreshments available on-site, a behind the scenes "Into Neverland" tour, picnic tables and a free "100 Years of Peter Pan" exhibit, audiences begin the journey even before the performance commences. Theater patrons are encouraged to enhance their trip to Neverland with the fare available at the Food Pavilion, but no food or beverage from outside is allowed in the park.

By arrangement with the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity and Samuel French Limited, this production of PETER PAN is produced by Charlie Burnell and Mat Churchill for threesixty° entertainment.
