Hillbarn Theatre to Close 75th Anniversary Season with SWEET CHARITY

By:

Hillbarn Theatre closes out its record breaking 75th Anniversary Season with Neil Simon's hit musical, SWEET CHARITY.

This poignant look at one woman's adventures and misadventures in the ways of love showcases every sense of the word musical as the show's leading lady sings, dances, laughs and cries her way through life in pursuit of an old-fashioned romance. Charity works at The Fan-Dango Ballroom where she has only seen the worst of bad relationships that seem to come one after the other. When she finally meets Oscar and believes her luck has changed, things turn sour, but Charity stays sweet and hopeful that someday her idea of romance will come true.

SWEET CHARITY will run May 5-29, 2016 at Hillbarn Theatre (1285 East Hillsdale Blvd., Foster City). Performances are Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Press night for SWEET CHARITY will be Friday, May 6, 2016. Single tickets range in price from $25-$48 and are available now by calling 650.349.6411 ext. 2 or visiting www.hillbarntheatre.org.

"SWEET CHARITY is a love story like my own and those of many others; a story about falling off the horse, learning how to get back up and knowing you'll be okay when it doesn't work out," says director Erica Wyman-Abrahamson. "This show gives you reason to believe that even when the odds are against you, you can still dream big and find something bigger than yourself."

Led by Monique Hafen* as Charity and David Blackburn as Oscar, SWEET CHARITY features an ensemble cast of actors including John Rinaldi, Adam Flowers, Lawrence-Michael Arias, Alicia Gangi, Caitlin O'Leary, Sara Ris, Stephanie Renee Maysonave, Rebecca Carteris, Cheryl Ringman, Paige Collazo, Christine Baker, Jessica Maxey, Brad Satterwhite, Clint Williams, Alyson Chilton, Rachel Young, Ron Lopez, Doug Greer, Nicholas Garland and Brigitte Losey.

Directed by Erica Wyman-Abrahamson, the creative team for SWEET CHARITY includes Rick Reynolds (music director), Alex Hsu (choreographer), Danielle Santana-Combs (stage manager), Kuo-Hao Lo (scenic director), David Gotlieb (lighting designer), Valerie Emmi (costume designer), Rosie Issel (properties designer) and Tracy Chiappone (vocal director).

Since 1941, the historic Hillbarn Theatre has served the San Francisco Bay Area by embracing this founding ideal - to create theatre with the community, for the community, striving always for excellence in production and education. Hillbarn has won a Theater Critics Circle Award, was accepted at the Edinburgh Theatre Festival, was honored with several mayoral proclamations for excellence in theatrical production and education, and received three Dean Goodman Awards for Artistic Excellence.
