Hillbarn Theatre Conservatory Presents URINETOWN

By:

Conservatory Directory Randy O'Hara announced today that youth actors from the Hillbarn Conservatory will present the Tony Award-winning musical, Urinetown. Featuring music and lyrics by Mark Hollmann with book and lyrics by Greg Kotis, Urinetown will perform March 29 31, 2019 at Hillbarn Theatre (1285 East Hillsdale Blvd., Foster City). The performance schedule is as follows: Friday, March 29 and Saturday, March 30 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, March 31 at 2 p.m.? Tickets for all performances are $20 and available now at hillbarntheatre.org or by calling 650.349.6411.

In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage caused by a 20-year drought has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides that he's had enough and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom! The winner of three 2002 Tony Awards, Urinetown is hilarious satire of the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, municipal politics and musical theatre itself.

Our cast has been working their tails off to bring to life a challenging and difficult comedy, says O'Hara. Urinetown is a challenge to master because it relies so much on comic timing and physical comedy. It has been a pleasure to watch this cast continue to grow through the process to find their characters, and develop the comedic chops needed to make for a hysterical evening of theater!

Under the direction of Randy O'Hara and Xandra Nemchik, Urinetown! features (in alphabetical order) Giada Auranicky, Samanthan Ayoob, Maddie Banas, Claie Boege, Mark Castro, Tommy Consunji, Sophia Edwards, Joe Gloss, Lila Gold, Adrian Harris, Grace Isola, Melina Koutantos, Vickie Kyriakis, Zachary Lichaa, Harrison Meek, Jane Palladino, Giana Papavasiliou, Annabelle Phillips, Madeline Saniewski, Rubi Sarmiento, Zaina Sharaiha, James Verhoeven, Ariana Vierra, and Sarah Zancanella.

The creative team for Urinetown includes Angela Harrington (Music Director) and Adrienne Kaori Walters (Choreography).
