The countdown to American Conservatory Theater's (A.C.T.) highly anticipated world premiere production of Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City officially begins December 5 with a limited-time opportunity to purchase single tickets. Tickets will be available for purchase December 5 at 10 a.m., and the flash sale will close on December 9 at 11:59p.m. Performances are expected to sell out quickly, and single tickets will not be available for purchase again until January 2011. Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City runs May 17-June 19, 2011, at the American Conservatory Theater (415 Geary Street, San Francisco, CA 94108); tickets will be available on the A.C.T. website at www.act-sf.org.

A.C.T. subscribers and donors will have exclusive access to discounted single tickets on November 30, and Tale Chasers, members of A.C.T.'s email fan club, will be able to purchase tickets beginning December 2. To join Tale Chasers-and to receive exclusive first looks, presale ticket information, and other special offers-visit www.act-sf.org/TaleChasers.

Three decades after Armistead Maupin mesmerized millions with his daily column in the city's newspapers, detailing the lives and (multiple) loves of Mary Ann, Mouse, Mona, Brian, and their beloved but mysterious landlady, Mrs. Madrigal, his iconic San Francisco saga comes home as a momentous new musical from the Tony Award-winning creators of Avenue Q (librettist Jeff Whitty and director Jason Moore) and the musical minds behind the glam-rock phenomenon Scissor Sisters (composers Jake Shears and John Garden). The capstone of the 2010-11 season, A.C.T.'s world premiere musical adaptation of Tales of the City unleashes an exuberant celebration of the irrepressible spirit that continues to define our City by the Bay.
A.C.T.'s production of Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City is sponsored by American Airlines, Foggy Bridge, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City is also made possible by commissioning sponsors Ambassador James C. Hormel and Mr. Michael P. Nguyen, Nancy Livingston and Fred Levin, The Shenson Foundation, and Jeff and Laurie Ubben; production sponsors Burt and Deedee McMurtry; music sponsors Lesley Ann Clement and Lorenzo Thione and David Palmer; and choreography sponsors Celeste and Kevin Ford, Marilee K. Gardner, Jo Hurley, Toby and Sally Rosenblatt, Laila Tarraf, and Nola Lee. A.C.T. would also like to acknowledge its 2010-11 season company sponsors: Priscilla and Keith Geeslin; Ambassador James C. Hormel and Mr. Michael P. Nguyen; Nancy Livingston and Fred Levin, The Shenson Foundation; Burt and Deedee McMurtry; Patti and Rusty Rueff; Mary and Steven Swig; and Jeff and Laurie Ubben. Development of Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City was supported by the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center during a residency at the National Music Theater Conference of 2009.
