Dragon Productions Theatre Is Proud To Host TheatreGames' Production Of JEANS! THE MUSICAL

For the past ten year Dragon Productions Theatre acted as the fiscal sponsor for Russian children's theatre company TheatreGames. Even though they received their 501c3 status at the end of 2017, TheatreGames continues to call the Dragon Theatre home for its weekly classes and periodically performs full length children's shows on the Dragon stage and out in the community. This spring they took their latest effort, Jeans! The Musical (by Caryn Yacowitz and Diane Claerbout with lyrics and music by Enid Davis) to the Mountain View Performing Arts Center for a sold out run and want to do the show again, this time as a fundraisings event for the Dragon Theatre to thank them for all their support over the years. Wendy DeWitt, the Queen of Boogie Woogie, is providing the musical accompaniment for this production of the play

Jeans! The Musical is the dramatic story of the invention of blue jeans, the pants that won the West and then the world, becoming an American Icon. Immigrants Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis, two real historical characters, dare to dream the American dream. They work hard, fail often and finally achieve beyond all expectations! Performed by the TheatreGames students many years ago as a play from local Palo Alto authors Caryn Yacowitz and Diane Claerbout, who wrote the play together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Palo Alto Children's Theatre. It was reworked to add music and lyrics from local children's librarian Enid Davis.

Dragon Productions Theatre Company's Managing Director, Kimberly Wadycki said "I'm really excited to be able to present this on the Dragon stage this fall. The TheatreGames students have been around for years but most of their shows are presented in Russian so I have never been able to experience a show. Getting to hear them sing and tell the story of these immigrants who came and lived the American Dream is just thrilling. It's a terrific story and one that needs to be shared right now."

Of Jeans!, Artistic Director Masha Farber says "Meeting this play is pure serendipity for our students - it is a hands-on history lesson, it is in English which is their main language now , and it is a touching and emotional story about the success of immigrants in a new country."

The show will be performed by the TheatreGames Teens with guest performers from the TheaterGames Younger group.
