Dominic Hoffman's EMMITT & AVA Premieres Tonight at Firescape Theatre

By:

Dominic Hoffman's EMMITT & AVA is a contemporary tale of misunderstanding between two families who, prompted by tragedy, suddenly find themselves highly motivated to communicate with one another.

Wyatt and Emma Cooke return home when they receive a visit from a stranger who impacts their lives forever. Now two families find themselves highly motivated to communicate with one another in the wake of tragedy. EMMITT & AVA weaves humor into its tale of woe, providing a familiar perspective on life and how we cope with hardship.

The Firescape Theatre in association with The Beverly Hills Playhouse of San Francisco hosts EMMITT & AVA, a compelling, thought-provoking piece confronting one of the key social issues of our time.

When asked, "Why do this play?", Producer Robert Zimmerman of Firescape said, "When I first read Dominic's script I was no more than five pages in before I knew we had to do this play. It's funny, it's tragic and it is unbelievably compelling. Everyone in The Bay Area needs to see this show because it's very much about where we are as a community and as a country."

The award winning writer and director of EMMITT & AVA, Dominic Hoffman, is a truly multitalented theater and film artist.

As a playwright, he earned Ovation awards (Best Actor in a play, Writing, and Best World Premiere) in 2000 for his one-man show "Uncle Jacques' Symphony," a play that celebrates humanity as a musical metaphor, and has been performed both in Europe and the States .

As an actor he is known for his roles on A Different World, Grey's Anatomy, Phil Spector, Red Belt, as well as recurring roles on The Shield, Hawaii 5-0, CSI, The Mentalist, and Castle amongst many other credits. And as a voice over artist he has done voice work on hundreds of films and television shows. He also works for Penguin Random House where he is an award winning book narrator.

EMMITT & AVA: Performs at the Firescape Theatre & BHF/SF. July 9th through August 14th. Fridays at 8pm. Saturdays at 8pm. Sundays at 2pm and 7pm - with two preview shows on July 8th at 8pm and July 9tt at 2pm. $15-$30. For more, visit BHPSanFrancisco.com.
