Chanteuse and Bay Area favorite Darlene Popovic makes her Feinstein's debut in her new solo show: WEAPONS OF MASS DISTRACTION - A Pre-Election Evening of Song, Love & Laughter - for one night only - Wed. Nov. 2, 2016 at 7:00 pm at Feinstein's at the Nikko - 222 Mason St. (at O'Farrell St.) in SF 94102. The show is co-directed by Bev Case and F. Allen Sawyer, with musical direction by Joe Wicht.

Having brilliantly narrated the Feinstein's at the Nikko concert presentations of Hello Dolly and Mame this summer (2016), Darlene Popovic is back for her Feinstein's at the Nikko solo debut. This actress, comedienne and singer has frequently showcased her many talents on Bay Area stages including performances with 42nd Street Moon, New Conservatory Theatre Center and TheatreWorks. She is an alumna of American Conservatory Theatre as well as the SF Conservatory of Music. Darlene has released one CD "Love and Laughter" and is the recipient of numerous SF Bay Area Gold, Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle, Dramalogue and Dean Goodman Choice Awards.

Darlene Popovic is a woman of many talents - Comedienne, actress and singer. She has brightened innumerable SF Bay Area productions. One of her specialties is playing multiple roles. She has presented her one-woman shows in SF, LA and NYC, displaying her versatility in comedy, music and drama. She has performed in many one-person shows and completed a 3-month run where she played 6 different characters to rave reviews "... we get the astonishing talents of Darlene Popovic, who carries the entire show." Darlene played 5 roles in Mama Parmigiana, written by John Stark. She played the entire female cast, (7 roles), in the SF production of Paul Rudnick's Jeffrey, at Theatre on the Square and 5 roles in No Way to Treat a Lady at TheatreWorks in Palo Alto and the Cohoes Music Hall in Upstate NY.

Darlene has performed in Cabaret Conventions both in SF and NYC. She has performed at Royal Albert Hall in the UK, in Anchorage AK and places in between. She would have liked to have conquered (performed in) the land of her ancestors, Yugoslavia, but it's too late, they've conquered themselves.

Among her TV appearances are: Return to the Streets of San Francisco, Midnight Caller and a recent Web series Back of the House. Her CD "Love and Laughter" received critical acclaim..."displaying a lovely singing voice and hilarious musical comedy."

Her Kander & Ebb cabaret presentation at the New Conservatory Theatre received rave reviews, "...Popovic moves between comedy and drama with ease." She appeared in 42nd Street Moon's Little Me where she portrayed 3 roles, one of which was her first trouser role as Bernie Buchsbaum. She then was cast in a role usually played by a male as the evil scientist, Dr. Agnes Sedgwick in Moon's production of It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman. She performed her cabaret act at Society Cabaret where critic Richard Connema said, "This remarkable, versatile artist performed an eclectic night of 20 romantic and comedy songs for an appreciative audience. Her program was beautifully crafted in every detail."

Popovic studied Opera Theatre Arts and Classical Voice at Indiana University and the SF Conservatory of Music and studied acting at The American Conservatory Theatre. Her many awards include 5 SF Bay Area Golds, 4 SF Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle, 2 Dramalogues and 2 Dean Goodman Choice Awards and one nice elderly lady who said, "If I had awards,
I would give you one for being so funny."
