Central Works Presents New Play THE WINDOW AGE Feb. 21 - Mar. 22

By:

Central Works presents The Window Age, a guided tour of the unconscious, a new play by Christopher Chen directed by Gary Graves from February 21 - March 22.

A Central Works Method Play developed in collaboration with Gary Graves, Joel Mullennix, Richard Frederick, Gregory Scharpen & Jan Zvaifler

What: 1920's, England in the aftermath of World War 1. The conception of the human mind is being reframed by the Modernist Movement in art and literature, the burgeoning field of psychoanalysis, and the emergence of a strange new affliction termed War Neurosis (or "shell shock"). A Modernist writer, not unlike Virginia Woolf, and her troubled war veteran husband receive a visit from an old friend, an expert psychoanalyst not unlike Sigmund Freud. As the evening unfolds, we go deeper and deeper and deeper into the subconscious minds of this mysterious trio˜a husband, a wife and a rival.

When: February 21-March 22; Thursday, Friday, Saturday at 8 p.m. & Sunday at 5 p.m.
Preview performance Friday, February 20 at 8 p.m.
Where: The Berkeley City Club, 2315 Durant Avenue, Berkeley.

Who: Written by Christopher Chen˜winner of the Bay Area Playwrights Festival in 2007 for his play Into the Numbers, also presented in festivals in New York, Minneapolis and Chicago, and a semi-finalist for the 2008 Princess Grace Award.
