Celebrated Jazz Vocalist Stacey Kent Returns to BAC with Two Shows

Bay Area Cabaret is thrilled to present the return of Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Stacey Kent. As part of a triumphant world tour, the platinum-selling artist returns to the Venetian Room with her five-piece band for the first time since her two sold-out shows in 2015. She will be celebrating the release of her 11th album, I Know I Dream: The Orchestral Sessions.

This beautiful collection of songs, arranged by Tommy Laurence, includes Bossa Nova classics, Chansons, American Standards, as well as original songs from Stacey's husband, the saxophonist, composer and arranger Jim Tomlinson, alongside his lyricist partners the award-winning novelist, Nobel Prize-winning lyricist Kazuo Ishiguro, Portuguese poet, Antonio Ladeira, and Nashville-based Cliff Goldmacher with whom Jim composed the title track. Even in an expanded orchestral landscape, Stacey and her group preserve their remarkable and instantly recognizable sense of intimacy and delicacy.

"Stacey's singing never lets us forget these songs are about people," explains Kazuo Ishiguro. "Her protagonists come to life so fully in her voice, you sometimes have to remind yourself the CD has no visuals. She has, in fact, much in common with today's finest screen actors who, assured of the camera's ability to pick out detail, portray complex shades of personality, motive and feeling through subtle adjustments of face and posture....here's a great jazz diva of our age."

Ms. Kent holds the prestigious Chevalier Dans L'Ordre Des Arts et Des Lettres award, multiple BBC Jazz Awards for Jazz Vocalist of the Year, has album sales approaching 2 million, and Gold, Double-Gold and Platinum-selling albums that have reached a series of No. 1 chart positions during the span of her career.

"As Stephen Holden of the New York times describes her, "Ms. Kent embodied the essence of saudade as persuasively as any of her Brazilian idols. As she threw back her head and crooned softly, you had the sense of a woman with nothing to protect, living in the moment and dreaming out loud."

Tickets to I Know I Dream with Stacey Kent are $65 general/$55 subscribers, with no food or drink minimum required.
