CMT Marquee Productions to Present Disney's NEWSIES THE MUSICAL

CMT San Jose Marquee Productions will present Disney's NEWSIES The Musical December 1-10, 2017 at the Montgomery Theater in San Jose.

CMT Marquee Productions, featuring emerging artists from New York to the Bay Area and beyond, presents the West Coast non-union regional premiere of Disney's NEWSIES The Musical.

Based on the 1992 musical film, inspired by a true story, NEWSIES takes us back to the New York City newsboy strike of 1899. Jack Kelly, the charismatic leader of a ragtag band of paperboys, dreams of a life far from the hardship of the streets. But when ruthless publishing titans raise prices at the boys' expense, Jack rallies "newsies" from across the city to strike, take a stand and fight.

NEWSIES won the Tony Award for Best Original Score, with songs like "Santa Fe," "Seize the Day" and "King of New York."

This production is directed by CMT Artistic Director Kevin Hauge, with choreography by Scott Shedenhelm (who performed in the world premiere of NEWSIES at the Papermill Playhouse), and vocal direction by Linda Middlebusher.
