Broadway by the Bay Kicks Off Season with THE MUSIC MAN

Broadway by the Bay opens their 2018 season with the Broadway classic, The Music Man. One of American theatre's most enduring musicals, audiences will march along with seventy-six trombones (with a hundred and ten cornets close at hand!), and one fast-talking, smooth-as-silk salesman looking to score big in small-town Iowa. "Professor" Harold Hill shows up in River City with the hopes of scoring a profitable scam by convincing the townspeople that he can teach their children to play musical instruments. When the local librarian sees through his scheme, the bickering twosome find the last thing either expected-love. One of the most Popular Productions in Broadway by the Bay history, Meredith Wilson's five-time Tony Award-winning classic is the perfect way to kick of the season. The Music Man runs for nine performances only beginning March 16, 2018. Tickets (ranging from $44-$66) are available by calling (650) 369-7770 or by visiting online at www.broadwaybythebay.org. Ticket prices are subject to change without notice.

"Our 2018 season is all about the power of music and its ability to affect our lives," says Broadway by the Bay Executive Artistic Director Alicia Jeffrey. "The Music Man shows how even the idea of bringing music to a community can bring forth communal and individual change-even bringing two wildly different people together. Broadway by the Bay wants to celebrate the music in our everyday lives, and I can think of no better show than The Music Man-one of most requested titles from our history-to kick off our fifty third season."

Since its Tony Award-winning arrival on Broadway in 1957, Meredith Wilson's love letter to small town America remains a perennial favorite, with such classic Broadway standards as "(Ya Got) Trouble", "Shipoopi", and "Seventy Six Trombones." Heading a cast of 33 is David Schiller as Professor Harold Hill, Jennifer Mitchell as prim librarian, Marian, Jenny Matteucci as Mrs. Paroo, and Liam Kimhi as young Winthrop. The cast also includes, Isaac Goldberg (Marcellus Washburn), Jay Thulien (Charlie Cowell), Scott Solomon (Mayor Shinn), Amy Meyers (Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn), Anya Colliou (Amaryllis Britt), Andrew Plaschke (Tommy Tjilas), and Charlotte Kearns (Zaneeta Shinn). The supporting ensemble features Jonathan Chan (Oliver Hix/Quartet), Danielle Cheiken (Ethel Tofelmier/Dance Captain), Derrick Contreras (Ewart Dunlop/Quartet), Jessica Golden (Alma Hix), Kristina Hudelson (Maud Dunlop), Mohamed Ismail (Olin Britt/Quartet), Daniel Lloyd Pias (Jacey Squires/Quartet), Raegena Raymond (Mrs. Squires). The creative team for The Music Man includes director / choreographer Nicole Helfer, Music Director Sean Kana, scenic designer Mark Mendelson, lighting designer Eric Johnson, costume designer Leandra Watson, wig and makeup designer Alexis Lazear, with sound design by Jon Hayward and Zak Stamps. Additional artistic staff includes associate choreographer Zoe Swenson-Graham, dramaturg Joshua Siegel, and dialect coach Kimily Conkle. The technical team is led by technical director Patrik Hendrickson.
