Berkeley Rep PAGE TO STAGE Hosts Talks With Jon Moscone, Tony Taccone

Theatres are usually dark on Monday nights, but several times each year Berkeley Repertory Theatre makes them glow with Page to Stage, a series of talks that engage brilliant guests in sparkling conversation. Today, the Tony Award-winning theatre announced the speakers for this season's free events:

· The creators of Broadway's Brief Encounter return to the Bay Area this December to unveil the American premiere of The Wild Bride. On Monday, December 5, Emma Rice, the artistic director of Kneehigh Theatre Company who adapted and directed both shows, will be interviewed about how the acclaimed company achieves its signature style. Berkeley Rep's literary manager, Madeleine Oldham, moderates the conversation including questions from the audience. The Wild Bride plays the Roda Theatre from December 2 through January 1.

· The leaders of two renowned theatres - Berkeley Rep's Tony Taccone and Jonathan Moscone of California Shakespeare Theater - have teamed up for the world-premiere production of Ghost Light. On Monday, January 23, they'll be interviewed about this unusual collaboration by Les Waters, Berkeley Rep's associate artistic director. A fable based on the assassination of the director's father, Mayor George Moscone, Ghost Light appears on the Thrust Stage from January 6 to February 19.

Every year, hundreds of people enjoy Page to Stage. Past programs have featured luminaries such as Sarah Jones, Tony Kushner, Michael Mayer, Terrence McNally, Rita Moreno, Salman Rushdie, Lemony Snicket, and Mary Zimmerman. No tickets are necessary for these free events, but seating is limited. Each talk begins at 7:00 PM; the lobby and café open at 6:00 PM, and the theatre opens at 6:30 PM for general-admission seating. Donors to Berkeley Rep get an opportunity to meet the guest of honor at an exclusive reception hosted by Back to Earth Organic Catering and Raymond Vineyards.
