Alan Cumming Brings Acclaimed Cabaret Show To Oshman Family JCC

The Oshman Family JCC presents internationally renowned performer Alan Cumming in his hugely acclaimed cabaret show Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs for one night only in Palo Alto. The beloved actor, singer, writer, producer, and activist will be joined onstage by Emmy Award-winning musical director Lance Horne and cellist Eleanor Norton for this delightful appearance declared an "emotional firestorm" by The New York Times, telling vivid stories of his most emotionally harrowing moments accompanied by sentimental tunes sung with Broadway-worthy bravado. From Billy Joel to Annie Lennox, and even an extraordinary mash-up of Adele, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry in "Someone Like the Edge of Firework," this "evening of intimacy at Club Cumming" (The Guardian) offers a no-holds-barred visit with one of the most exciting performers of our time. Beyond eclectic, Alan Cumming is adored worldwide for his many iconic roles in movies, television, and theater. He recently reprised his legendary role as the Emcee in "Cabaret," for which he won a Tony Award and every other available award upon his sensational Broadway debut in 1998. Cumming is also a New York Times best-selling author, an award-winning recording artist, and a versatile actor who has appeared in blockbuster films such as "X2: X-Men United," "Spy Kids," "GoldenEye," and "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion." He recently finished his sixth season on the CBS hit drama "The Good Wife," for which he has been nominated for multiple Golden Globe, Emmy SAG, Critics' Choice, and Satellite awards. A dedicated activist, Cumming has received over forty awards for his humanitarianism and social activism and was made an Officer of the British Empire by the Queen for his contributions to the arts and LGBT equality.

Lance Horne is an award-winning composer, pianist, singer, and music director who has worked with Alan Cumming, Ricki Lake, Liza Minnelli, the von Trapps, Kristin Chenoweth, and countless other exciting artists around the world. Horne has performed for President Obama and Queen Elizabeth, and has made multiple appearances at Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House, Lincoln Center, and London's West End. His work crosses multiple genres, from musical theatre, to rock, to classical stage, to film scores, and has won him Jonathan Larson, Bistro, and ASCAP Awards.

Eleanor Norton is a New York City-based cellist with a unique stylistic versatility that has led to performing, recording, and collaborating with many of today's leading artists. She has joined extended world tours with Adele, Natalie Merchant, and The Jonas Brothers, and has collaborated with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Liza Minnelli, and Beyoncé. Norton has also performed both on and off Broadway in The King and I, Little Women, and My Fair Lady, and has played multiple late-night shows including Saturday Night Live and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. In 2010, she performed at the State Dinner honoring the President of Mexico, hosted by President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.
