French Impressionist painter Claude Monet created some of his most famous works of art depicting his gardens of Giverney in the 1890’s. Many artists have been inspired by the images and now choreographer Jean Isaacs among them. In creating work for the 11th annual Cabaret Dances, Isaasacs is embracing the impressionist ethos that tries to capture an image that has only been “glimpsed” and is not detail oriented.

According to Isaacs, “this artistic energy of creating quickly also permeates the rehearsal process. Rather then coming in with steps to teach, we are sketching and then filling in through a very collaborative process.”
