Carlsbad Playreaders presents a one-night-only staged reading of Mary Jane, a drama by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Tony Award-nominated playwright Amy Herzog, winner of the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best Play in 2018. The play follows a single mother navigating an impossible family situation, offering a portrait of resilience, caregiving, friendship, and the communities we build to survive. The staged reading features an all-female cast including Kelsey Venter, Erika Beth Phillips, Monique Gaffney, Dagmar Fields, and Lyric Boothe, with stage directions read by Maybelle Shimizu, under the direction of Sandy Campbell.
