WRITE OUT LOUD Presents SOUTHERN SENSIBILITIES A Story Concert Reading

By: Sep. 28, 2016

Write Out Loud - an organization founded in 2007 with a commitment to inspire, challenge and entertain by reading short stories aloud for a live audience - announces SOUTHERN SENSIBILITIES the second production in their 10th Anniversary Season. Write Out Loud Story Concerts bring literature to life - aloud - with rehearsed readings by professional actors. Each program explores specific themes by weaving a variety of stories, poems and sometimes music together into a literary tapestry.

SOUTHERN SENSIBILITIES examines and shares stories of the American South. Call them quirky, poignant, mystical or downright crazy - these stories about women from the South are rich and vibrant. Stories by William Faulkner, Eudora Welty, Flannery O'Connor, Kate Chopin, Florence King, Dorothy Allison and Joseph Mitchell capture the unique flavor and color of Southern living, the significance of family, class and racial tension.

The cast for "Southern Sensibilities" includes Monique Gaffney, Linda Libby, Veronica Murphy, Walter Ritter and Rachael VanWormer.

SOUTHERN SENSIBILITIES takes place on Monday, October 24th at the Old Town Theatre at 7pm. The complimentary pre-show reception starts at 6:15. Ticket prices are $20, $17 for Senior and Military and $5 for students and can be purchased by calling 619-297-8953 or on the organization website: writeoutloudsd.com

In addition to their six-show season of Story Concerts, Write Out Loud provides the community five additional programs serving over 16,000 people annually including: TwainFest - a free literary celebration every August in Old Town, Stories for Seniors, StoryBox Theatre for elementary students (recently featured in Balboa Park at "Celebrating 100 Years of Roald Dahl"), Read Imagine Create for teens and Poetry Out Loud for high school students.
