Old Globe Extends ROBIN AND THE SEVEN HOODS Thru 8/29 And ROMANCE Thru 9/12

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced that the World Premiere of Robin and the 7 Hoods - A New Musical and the West Coast Premiere of Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro's The Last Romance will each receive a week of additional performances due to popular demand. Originally set to close on Aug. 22, Robin and the 7 Hoods will now run through Sunday, Aug. 29. The Last Romance was originally set to close on Sept. 5 and will now run through Sunday, Sept. 12. The 2010 Shakespeare Festival, also part of the theater's Summer Season, is being hailed by both audiences and critics as the Globe's strongest showing in years and a fitting way to celebrate its 75th Anniversary. Led by acclaimed director Adrian Noble, the Wall Street Journal called the Festival "a theatrical event of which San Diego should be proud." Currently playing, the Noble-directed King Lear runs through Sept. 23 and The Madness of George III through Sept. 24. Presented in repertory, the Festival also includes The Taming of the Shrew (through Sept. 26) directed by Ron Daniels.

Robin and the 7 Hoods features a book by Tony Award winner Rupert Holmes and songs by four-time Academy Award winners Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen. Directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, with musical supervision and vocal and incidental music arrangements by John McDaniel, the Broadway-bound musical comedy is currently in previews and runs in the Old Globe Theatre through August 29. Opening night is Friday, July 30 at 8:00 p.m. The cast of Robin and the 7 Hoods features Will Chase (Little John), Adam Heller (Lieutenant Nottingham), Rick Holmes (P.J. Sullivan), Jeffrey Schecter (Willie Scarlatti), Eric Schneider (Robbo), Amy Spanger (Alana O'Dell) and Kelly Sullivan (Marian Archer) with Timothy J. Alex, Clyde Alves, Graham Bowen, Andrew Cao, Cara Cooper, Paige Faure, Lisa Gajda, Stephanie Gibson, Carissa Lopez, Vasthy Mompoint, Beth Johnson Nicely, Aleks Pevec, Sam Prince, Tally Sessions, Brian Shepard and Anthony Wayne (Ensemble).

The Last Romance stars Globe Associate Artist and television icon Marion Ross and her longtime partner Paul Michael. The new romantic comedy was written for them by DiPietro. Patricia Conolly and Joshua Jeremiah complete the cast. Directed by Richard Seer, The Last Romance runs in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre July 30 - Sept. 12. Previews run July 30 - Aug. 4. Opening night is Thursday, Aug. 5 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are currently available by subscription only. Single tickets go on sale Friday, July 30 at noon.
