Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre to Present HAVING OUR SAY in 2015

By:

In keeping with its 2014/15 American Melting Pot theme (a look at four distinct cultures by four critically-acclaimed playwrights), The Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre (CVRep) is set to present their second main stage production, Having Our Say, The Delany Sister's First Hundred Years. Written by Emily Mann and adapted from the book of the same name by real-life sisters, Sarah L. and A. Elizabeth Delany with Amy Hill Hearth, Having Our Say will be performed at the Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre in Rancho Mirage from January 21 to February 8, 2015.

Starring H. Chris Brown as 101 year-old Bessie and Regina Randolph as 103 year-old Sadie, and Directed by CVRep Artistic Director, Ron Celona, Having Our Say tells the compelling story of the hardships and extraordinary achievements of the Delany sisters. Through their distinctive and candid storytelling skills, we are taken on a remarkable journey through the last hundred years of our nation's history. The play opens at the sister's Mount Vernon home where they are preparing dinner in remembrance of their father's birthday. While stuffing a chicken, baking a ham and making ambrosia and pound cake, Sadie and Bessie share captivating events and amusing anecdotes drawn from their rich family history, including their careers as pioneering African American professional women, growing up as daughters of a former slave turned respected professor, sustaining professional careers and integrating a suburb in New York.

"Having Our Say is a significant and entertaining theatrical work with broad Universal appeal. It is a powerful play that celebrates women and men, African Americans, our country, and the invincible human spirit", says Artistic Director, Ron Celona.

Having Our Say will be performed at the Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre located at 69930 Highway 111, Suite 116, Rancho Mirage, CA 92270 from January 21 to February 8, 2015 with evening perfomances on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 PM and matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2 PM. Tickets are $45:00. To purchase tickets call 760-296-2966, visit www.cvrep.org or purchase them from the CVRep Box Office.
