Balboa Park Puppets Presents Summer Line-Up 7/1 Thru 8/2
Marie Hitchcock Puppet Theater presents BIG JOE'S FIREWORKS!, CINDERELLA, THE THREE WISHES, and PIRATE PAUL'S PIRATE PARTY. Summer shows are Wednesday through Sunday, 3 shows daily at 11am, 1pm, and 2:30pm.
July 1 to July 5 is BIG JOE'S FIREWORKS! Celebrating Uncle Sam's birthday with songs, music, and jokes. Big Joe will tell the story of "The Remarkable Rocket". Lots of fun and exciting special effects for all ages. (No real fireworks but small poppers used in the show).
From July 8 to July 19, Puppet Theater presents the classic fairytale CINDERELLA. Do you believe in magic? You will when Cinderella goes from humble serving maid to the belle of the ball in this elegant tale told with hand and rod puppets. Don't miss the unveiling of our new lights generously funded with a grant from The Thursday Club Juniors of Point Loma. Enjoy a newly spruced up theater! A special thanks to Kimberly Hunt, local news anchor, for voicing the Fairy Godmother.
July 22nd to July 26th is THE THREE WISHES. They could have had it all, riches, a castle, luxury, but the old maid and his wife foolishly waste three wishes granted them by a fairy. Extra Plus: A little boy recites the poem, A Brave Boy and a Dragon, in this delightful hand puppet show. Puppet Express performed by Eva Kvaas.
From July 29 to August 2 is PIRATE PAUL'S PIRATE PARTY. Pirate Paul is on a journey to find "The Treasure Of Balboa Park". When his ship sinks and he is under the water a beautiful mermaid will rescue Pirate Paul and put him on the Island of Hula Helene, where Pirate Paul will find the treasure and true love! Full Stage Marionette Production with a six foot pirate ship and blacklight underwater scene. (A 10 second storm scene may be a little scary but otherwise this show is great for all ages and Pirate Paul will share his treasure with the children after the show).
