Audition Requirements:

  • Actors must prepare and perform 2 contemporary (1 minute) contrasting monologues (comedic and dramatic)

  • Those who wish to audition for "Somewhere Over the Border" need to prepare and sing 16 bars of a contemporary Musical Theatre piece. Can be acapella or bring your own accompaniment; we will provide a speaker

  • Actors must fill out the audition form below

  • In Person auditions must fill out both audition form and in person sign up below

  • Bring one printed copy of resume

  • Bring one printed copy of head shot

  • For those who cannot attend in person on one of the audition dates, we ask that you fill out the audition form below and select "online audition submission"  and there will be an option to upload your video submission at the end of that online form.

  • Video auditions should be well lit, from the waist up, and should include; slate, both monologues, and musical selection of 16 bars (if wanting to be considered for the musical, Somewhere Over the Border)

  • VIDEO SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS 03/25/23 @ 11:59pm

The discovery of a worn pink wrestling mask prompts Nana Lupita, a Wisconsin grandmother, to share her tale about growing up in 1960s Texas. As her tale unfolds, Lupita's life as a teen tomboy comes alive—bike riding with her friends Leopold and Liesl, working at her father's flower stand and lucha libre. When a World Championship match is announced, Lupita anticipates seeing it until she discovers her ailing father is one of the wrestlers. With the help of a magical mask maker, Lupita secretly trains to take her father's place. She soon finds it difficult keeping her secret from her friends and, most importantly, her father.

Ghosts of Lote Bravo

In Cuidad Juarez, Mexico young girls often disappear. Many turn up murdered. Juanda Cantu’s daughter, Raquel, is one of these girls. Through visions offered by La Santa Muerte, Juanda is shown Raquel’s past only to discover that her daughter had hopes, dreams and courage Juanda knew nothing about. The Ghosts of Lote Bravo is a play about great hope in the midst of relentless violence, poverty and grief

Somewhere Over The Border  (TEXAS PREMIERE)

In this new musical, Somewhere Over the Border embraces the factual and the fantastical in its depiction of one young girl's pursuit of the American dream. As Reina travels north to the Mexican border, she gathers friends, faces down dangers, and holds tight to the memory of the little boy she left behind.

DON NAPOLEON: A Salvadorian man who owns the restaurant that Reina works at, 50s

ANTONIA: An older woman who works in El Salvador and has a daughter who works in the United States

CRUZ: An indigenous Guatemalan boy who dreams of obtaining an American dream

SILVANO: A man from Tapachula, Mexico with a dream to reunite with the rest of his family in America

LEONA: A catholic nun from Guadalajara, with rock and roll dreams

IT'S A WONDERFUL VIDA (TEXAS PREMIERE)

This story takes a darkly satirical look at Mexican-Americans during Christmas in 1957. Set in Corpus Christi, Texas, the play examines an immigrant family trying to assimilate and reach for the American dream that seems as fake as Santa Claus. The Pacheco family gets an unexpected visit from Mexico that turns their whole world upside down.

JIMMY PACHECO: 18. American born. American teenager, a juvenile delinquent but a good kid. Dark complexion.

PANCHO PACHECO: 60. Born and raised in Mexico. Hard working. Little education. Dreams of a better life or going back to Mexico. Dark complexion.

JOE PACHECO: 35. First American Born. Korean War Veteran with a drinking problem.

ELENA SALINAS: 30. A beautiful white middle class Mexican woman escaping her privileged Mexico City life.
